I thought about how fleeting life is as I lay in the hospital bed surrounded by beeping equipment and the sterile scent of antiseptic. I considered the beats I had overlooked, the opportunities I had wasted, and the nearly constant silence.
However, every obstacle presents a chance for improvement. I came out of it with a broken heart, but a stronger one. I discovered how to appreciate each beat and to pay attention to its whispers. I turned into a health advocate, a voice for awareness, and a ray of hope for others who were pursuing a similar route as me.
