The idea of someone shooting up a movie theatre or crowd, makes many very uncomfortable. For most of us like to have very predictable lives, amongst other things, right?

So, we tend to wonder what the roots of such running amok could be: a very bad childhood? Or some "genetic" component too? For, many of us have "tough childhoods" and yet, most are not hugely harmful.

So, could there be a number of factors involved, both nature and nurture, wherein it is not "helpful" to have the genetic components of being a male; big; mesomorphic; and to have high levels of testosterone?

And, what if a child is abused, but there are no welts, no broken bones: only a "broken spirit"? Yes, what if the child was never hit, or sexually assaulted: they were "simply" - or not so simply - told they were "worthless", in one or many subtle and deniable ways? And the child was also told that the parent loved them so very much, and was making such great sacrifices to put a roof over their head, and feed them? And that this child was so very ungrateful? What if the child were made to feel guilty over how they were treated? As if they had "brought it on", themselves?

Furthermore, doesn't it matter, a great deal, whether a child is allowed to rebel, or not? And doesn't it also injure a child greatly, to be abused and then told that the parent so loves them?

And what role does a neighborhood play, if there is no one telling this person that they are "being taken advantage of" and instead, everyone "turns their head" and ignores the abuse?

Also, what role does the person's philosophical outlook on free will vs. determinism have, upon whether they can easily understand and then forgive the "originator" of their psychological sufferings?

Indeed, it also not helping, this author believes, for any trauma victim to be "medicated" for an indefinite period of time, such that the matters regarding trauma are not properly addressed, but instead, essentially suppressed, with the possibility that they could "emerge", someday, especially if stressors strike.

This book thus provides some links to YouTube videos which present an alternative approach to the commonplace "drug" treatment strategy so prevalent in America today.
