B. Smyth, an R&B singer/songwriter, began by joining the millions of youngsters who uploaded YouTube videos of themselves performing songs by other artists. Smyth started covering songs by Michael Jackson, Maxwell, Frank Ocean, and other well-known hip-hop and R&B artists in 2011, when he was only 17 years old. Some of his videos ultimately went viral and were reposted by numerous media outlets. His smooth technique prompted similarities to more mature performers like Chris Brown and Usher, and soon the adolescent was playing at numerous talent shows thanks to his high video views, finally securing a contract with Motown in 2012. Later that year, his first song for the label, "Leggo," starring 2 Chainz, was released. It soon surpassed millions of video views.
According to a statement by Smyth's older brother, Denzil, the artist passed away on Thursday morning from respiratory failure after a lengthy struggle with pulmonary fibrosis.
