He was gone when I woke up. I guess the empty bottle of Jack Daniels on the floor explained how I slept so hard I didn't even hear his Harley pull out. He wasn't exactly the strong silent type. He was a real screamer, every time I slammed into him. The rougher I got, the more he cried out like a fucking cat in heat. But he was no cat. First time I had ever plowed a Coyote shifter before, but then, I was his first Berserker.

There's a reason "berserk" in English means crazy. When a Werebear goes into what granddad called hamremmi, it can lead to frenzy almost impossible to control. It's strongest when I start my spring cycle, and after a long winter, my libido rages back. So does my appetite, but that's never a problem. I mean, I might bite when I'm topping a guy, but I don't eat him.

It was rumored Great Uncle Nils had done just that when hamremmi took him. When I was a kid I remember coming downstairs unseen when the subject came up of why we really moved to Minnesota from The Old Country. It was the reason Berserkers were watched so closely as they approached puberty and were then kept isolated when it hit. The older you got, the more control you had over your body and its changes.
