'Blooms of the Berry' is one of Madison Cawein's best poetry books. Known in his day as the "Keats of Kentucky', Cawein's poems are about the beauty of nature, and features mythological characters, such as Loki, Guinevere, Isolde, and Dionysus. He wrote poems about crisp November mornings, muggy summer afternoons, and rainy Autumn days. There are poems about abandoned houses, old mills, and the decay of human remains and once-stately properties. Beautifully written, Cawein's books are a joy to read.
