"How's the patient?" Alicia heard a deep voice ask as she tried to slip away.

She knew the voice only too well, but turned around to ensure it was Warren. It shouldn't surprise her to see him. He was always around. Particularly when she messed up and needed a shoulder to cry on. Or when she treated any of the alpha enforcers and they tried to force-mate her.

Warren should know that she didn't need a protector. After all, he had taught her self-defence when ordered to by their Alpha. Initially, Warren had been reluctant to teach her. "I held back. He's still breathing," Alicia said sarcastically.
