Boss Swap

When Claire finds out that her boss is cheating on her, she does the only logical thing:

She becomes the boss.

Excerpt:

I fumed in silence as I watched that slut Sarah - the new secretary - waltz into the boss' office. It was easy to see exactly what she was doing. From the slutty way she dressed to the way she smiled at him.

It made me fucking mad. God dammit! I thought I was his favorite! He wasn't going to get away with this, of that I was going to make sure. But how?

I robotically performed my secretarial duties for the rest of the day as I schemed a way to get rid of that bitch. She wasn't going to steal my promotion out from under me - not if I could help it.

It wasn't until closing time that I stumbled upon my opportunity.

"Claire?" John caught me on my way out and walked me to my car.

I held my anger in check, took a deep breath and painted a fake smile on my face.

"Oh, hey John, how is everything?" I asked as politely as I possibly could. I didn't want to let on that I was miffed at being replaced so quickly.

He shrugged. "Pretty good. Wife's cranky, but carrying around a baby in your belly will do that to you. Listen," he lurched ahead and held the door open for me. "I need you to do me a favor."

I stopped and looked at him as my heart leapt. I may have been completely pissed off at him, but just being near him made me feel like a little girl with her first crush. Stupid, I know, but hormones are like that sometimes.

"Yeah?" I looked up at him hopefully. I wasn't exactly short, but he made me look small standing next to him. That was one of the things that I liked about him. That, and that he had a very sexy pout whenever he was thinking about something - as he was now.

"Listen," he lowered his voice and leaned in, "I have to...uh deal with a little family matter tomorrow and won't be able to make it in. Could you tell Sarah that we'll have to reschedule our plans?"

My heart went from elation to dread, but I kept it all in check. "Something wrong on the home-front?" I knew it wasn't exactly my business, but if I was going to have to cover for him, I figured the more info the better.

"Yeah," he admitted and continued walking me to my car. "I completely spaced on it being our anniversary. If I cancel, I'll never hear the end of it. You know how pregnant women are."

"So," I said, fishing out my keys as we approached my car, "What exactly do you want me to say to her?" On the one hand I was miffed that he was making plans with Sarah, but also secretly glad that he had to cancel them. God, this love triangle was a fucking mess.

"Well, see, that's the thing." We stopped just outside my car. "I don't want to upset her. Just tell her that I'm going to be out of town for a couple of days and that I'll be back on Friday." He leaned in to kiss me. "If you could do that for me, love, I'd really appreciate it."
