Winston Cooper, curator of neo-modern art at a museum of contemporary art in this short story, encounters the ghost of an artist whose final work is on display. The ghost asks Winston to finalize two pieces of art hanging on the wall. Dismayed that he allowed unfinished work to be displayed, Winston agrees to make the "finishing touches" on the paintings.
