Initially, when I created the Chair Yoga for Weight Loss program, my beloved grandmother Helen was in my thoughts. She was eighty-two years old and had gained weight and grown more inactive after my grandfather died. She was no longer as feisty or as full of life.
Helen had always been a lively, energetic woman who enjoyed gardening and dancing. But with the death of my grandfather, she fell into depression and resorted to eating. Before long, the weight began to gain and her mobility decreased. Seeing my grandma, who was once an invincible powerhouse, reduced to a chair potato hurt my heart.
I realized that to assist her get back on track, I had to do it gently so as not to put too much strain on her joints or age her. It was then that I realized the effectiveness of chair yoga. I created a special routine for elders like Helen, became licensed as an instructor, and integrated it into a 30-day transformation plan.
Grandma initially laughed at the concept of "yoga in a chair." However, I could sense that she missed using her body in an enjoyable and upbeat manner. She promised to follow along with me on FaceTime and even agreed to joke around with me.
I saw significant changes in her energy and demeanor within the first week. Rather than leaving her panting and aching, the moderate movements had left her feeling rejuvenated. She wasn't pushed too far, but she was becoming stronger. The best part was that her spirit was revived!
My once-sluggish, oppressed grandma was back to her vibrant self by the conclusion of thirty days. She was able to touch her toes for the first time in years after losing fifteen pounds! Helen's entire perspective changed; she felt her spark returning and eager to move her body every day.
Grandma's friends all wanted to do chair yoga since she became such an advocate for it. We established a senior women's online community where members can offer encouragement, trade nutritious food ideas, and commiserate over awkward "Wobble Wednesday" poses.
My inspiration for writing this book and spreading the practice of chair yoga came from witnessing my dear grandma's remarkable improvement in health. I have personal experience with how potent it is in reviving energy, helping elders feel young and self-assured again, losing weight, and enhancing strength and flexibility.
Chair yoga has the potential to change your life, too, if it can do such amazing things for my 82-year-old, lethargic granny. Why not start your mind-body renaissance by clicking the "BuyNow"button?
