California Otters Part One

Trick Dixon heads to California with dreams of Hollywood fame and fortune. His film-producing father won't help him make it, but he'll do one thing: gift Trick a place to live and warn him he probably won't keep it for long. Openly gay and with devilish good looks and an otter's aptitude for surfing, Trick attracts Sandy a bartender with an extraordinary story about how he made it to the beaches of Malibu. Sandy has a dream of his own: to get the script he's written made into a world-changing movie. Trick persuades his brother Kyle to get in on the action and bring his boyfriend Kia with him. The four of them make a pact: they're going to prove the most powerful otter in Hollywood wrong and keep that beach house. They're going to make it in Cali, no matter what, and someday they're going to make that film.

Except that the other three don't seem to realise what 'no matter what' really means in the film business. Trick does though. He's prepared to use everything he's got to keep that house. What he's prepared to do both on and off camera all comes down to one thing: 'Everybody wants this otter.' He decides to meet with Echo Pendryl an infamous star who some say committed murder to get where he is now. Trick's willing to take a risk on making Echo a business partner, even though Echo has a tame yet equally infamous boyfriend, a wolverine named Eddie, who might just go even further than Trick or Echo to get the fame he wants. There's a secret in Trick's past too, and Eddie's determined to find it.
