We open with the extended and revised 2nd edition of Connor Parnell's "The White Serf" and the tale of a chancer who runs up a debt no amount of money will ever make good. Not when that debt is to the London mobster whose wife he has bedded. A wife of whom the mobster is as protective as he is besotted. Finding it necessary for his well-being, the hapless but still handsome man leaves London on fake ID and loses himself in a on the Suffolk coast where he replies to an ad from a local African widow that will alter his life even more dramatically than the mobster himself if he ever lays hands upon him And with his willing consent!

After this we have Shruti Jalav's "A Very English Chattel", her story of a young Indian woman with plain looks and a body that would not be out of place on a Venus. A Varanasi housekeeper with sexual demons and fantasies she is more than willing to embrace who sees an opportunity to satisfy them when she takes up a live-in position in the home of a visiting English lecturer who soon develops an unlikely fixation for her that soon leads to his willing servitude!

Next up is Rafael Menton's "The Manservant" and the tale of another male unfortunate who is wrongly accused and imprisoned before being divorced from his wife and estranged from his daughters. A former teacher struggling with depression after his release when he realises he is not only friendless and jobless but about to be made homeless by his local council in London. Which is when he sees an ad seeking a man for a live-in position in affluent Blackheath. An ad run by an African couple who are looking for a man JUST like him on a long-term basis A man who will become their utter and willingly obedient... MANSERVANT.

We round off the quadruple with Mr Menton's "Adhira Khatri", and a tale of marital betrayal, interracial assertiveness and murder in which Thomas Hudson has been betrayed by the people closest to him and exacted a suitably physical retribution. A retribution that has led to the loss of both his freedom and his young daughter and an anger that soon became weakness and fear during a terrifying stay in prison and will be used by the former Indian neighbour who has long desired him to fashion for herself the willing and respectful white servant she has always desired.
