An Elementary School Masterpiece From Critically Acclaimed Author Emma Jean

Praise for Charles McCheese and The Childhood News Network

LOVED THE BOOK! It was so clever and fun.

"An awesome read for kids. My 10 year old is demanding a sequel, and a plane ticket to Tokyo, he wants to get rescued by Captain Shinobi too! "

"Charles McCheese and the Childhood News Network is absurd in the perfect way that kids love. This story is filled with so much magic and adventure that you start to believe it's all possible, like maybe you could turn a rubber duck into a sailboat if you just knew how to dream big enough.

If you like tacos, ninjas, and the Queen of England than this is the book for you!

DESCRIPTION

Charles McCheese, the eleven-year-old founder of The Childhood News Network, only has two rules for his reporters: they keep grow-ups out of the news, and they report on Southwest Florida and Southwest Florida only.

That was the station's magic formula until Naveen shows up and starts bringing his mom everywhere. Plus, he's convinced the other reporters they can cover stories from all around the world, when the truth is most of them can't even find their way home from school.

Charles is forced to consider shutting down the station, while his out of control reporters are off chasing conspiracies of their own invention. It's pretty clear that his team has lost their minds. His second least reliable reporter is never going to get out of Tokyo, and his least reliable reporter is never going to survive her voyage on a giant duck across the English Channel.
The worst part is everyone still finds time to be mad at Charles. Why can't they see that this is all Naveen's fault and why can't they all stop talking about Taco Tuesday?

EXCERPT

Charles took a deep breath before turning on his news anchor voice.

"That was a great show today, everybody. Really interesting stuff! Who has ideas for tomorrow's broadcast?"

Nicholas shouted out, "Ninjas!"

The whole room said, "Ugh!"

This was not the first time they'd heard that suggestion.

"Just hear me out!" Nicholas said.

"My sources have told me that Ninjas have been spotted at Dolphin Beach."

"Nicholas, last time you reported at Dolphin Beach you ended up getting rescued by the Coast Guard!" Thea shouted at him.

"Thea's right Nicholas. We can't risk you going down to Dolphin Beach again," Charles said.

"It doesn't even matter because Ninja's aren't real," Lilly added.

"Yes they are!" Nicholas said.

"And tomorrow, I'm going to catch them on camera at Dolphin Beach!"

"Listen, buddy," Charles said softly. "I know you want to believe in Ninjas but I think Lilly's right. I don't think they're even real."

"Actually," Naveen cut in, "Ninjas are real. Or more exactly, they were real during feudal times in Japan. They worked as assassins and spies, taking work that the Samurai Warriors found too dishonorable."

"Dishonorable?" Charles said in disbelief. "Who is this guy?"

"Yes, dishonorable, d-i-s-h-o" Naveen began to spell.

"Not this again!" Charles almost shouted. "Well, for those of you that don't know, to behave dishonorably is to bring shame or disgrace. In Japan, the Samurai Warriors had a strict code of honor." Naveen finished his lecture.

Charles stared at Naveen in shock. He had never had a meeting get this off topic before. He was so frustrated, he couldn't even think of what to say next.

Nicholas on the other hand was full of excitement. "I've got it! If Naveen says Ninjas are in Japan then I'm going to Japan," he said.

"Are you out of your mind? You got lost at the zoo!" Lilly pointed out.

"How far away is Japan, anyways?" Nicholas asked.
