The compiling and production of this book came from a necessity felt by the author to explain concepts that were either nonexistent or poorly described in the current literature, but never the less extremely important to the sound practice of specific cervical manipulation.
One of the first concepts is the notion of "specificity" in an adjustment. The art of adjusting the spine while cavitating a single vertebral segment has been presented as the cornerstone of the chiropractic therapeutic intent. Many chiropractic systems of analysis invest tremendous time in searching to isolate a specific level of involvement. Surprisingly much less time has been provided to teach how to make the manipulation more specific.
One of the goals of this book is to fill this gap, and to clearly provide elements, which will enable a doctor to refine his manipulation to a single level of cavitation.
This task requires answering in detail the questions on "how," "why," "when," "where" and "how much" is needed of every spatial component to obtain a specific vertebral manipulation. How much flexion is needed? How much extensionetc? Responses are given with anatomical explanations (facets, tendons, ligaments); physiological relevancy (resistance to stress, plasticity, torque etc); a biomechanical description (arc of tension); a study of the risk associated with each spatial movement; and most importantly, clear practical recommendations based on the scientific rational developed from those findings are given to the reader.
The ultimate goal is to provide the student with the tools to evaluate any technique taught in school or in private seminar without a dogmatic approach. It provides practical universal concepts, which will give the practitioner a more critical mind along with the tools to back up the modification that each one of us almost always implements instinctually in his own practice. The author in protocols of application has integrated these concepts.I expect and hope they will be challenged, as it is the destiny of an evolving profession.
One of these concepts is the one of base technique positioning. It describes in extreme detail a single protocol of application for all the lower cervical techniques regardless of the patient and doctor's position. This allows the doctor to work on a common protocol for over twenty-five techniques, each currently described as a specific entity in the current literature.

This book is about vertebral manipulative therapy of the cervical spine and emphasizes the practical aspect of the treatment. A new mechanical model using the Arc of Tension theory details what renders specific a Spinal manipulation. The inquisitive practitioner receives from this model a useful answer to many of the questions which sooner or later have bothered him, questions such as why this works and why this doesn't? It permits the reader to discover a new concept in technique learning where a base manipulative technique is first learned and from which multiple techniques are built and customized by the doctor. It provides step by step details to a well-integrated practical and theoretical learning experience.
The videos are the essential complement of the book. Each movement is precisely performed and can be called up instantly from an interactive link. Parts of the movies allow a doctor to start mastering a technique alone, without the need of a 2nd person as a patient. This in itself is the most innovative and most efficient tool for learning movement in a self-paced manner.
