Mystery of the Yellow Room-
For sheer originality and ingenuity this story may be reckoned one of the best tales since Gaboriau. Seldom does a detective story end with so total a surprise, which nevertheless, seems logical and natural. For the many who delight in following the intricacies of crime and the avenging hand of Justice, this book has rare charms.
The Secret of the Night-
Rouletabille, an infallible unraveller of criminal mysteries, figures in an atmosphere of vodka, nihilists and unpronounceable names.
The Double Life-
Theophraste Longuet, retired rubber stamp manufacturer, is periodically possessed by the spirit of long-dead villain Cartouche in this feverish French melodrama. (Also known as The Man with the Black Feather.)
The Phantom of the Opera-
The story of a man named Erik, an eccentric, physically deformed genius who terrorizes the Opera Garnier in Paris. He builds his home beneath it and takes the love of his life, a beautiful soprano, under his wing.
