The Revenant: by Michael Punke | Conversation Starters
A Brief Look Inside: Hugh Glass was a frontiersman, fur trapper, scout, explorer, and hunter. But he was known best for his encounter with a grizzly bear, and surviving. In The Revenant, the story of Glass' ill-fated expedition with General Ashley's men is described. He was mauled by a grizzly bear and left for dead by his comrades. General Ashley left two men behind to bury him when he died, but they robbed him, not just of his possessions but of any chance to survive in the wilderness. Glass overcame all odds and survived until he was able to return to the white areas, thoughts of revenge fuelling on his desire to survive. This book is as much a story of survival as it is of revenge.
