Beyond the 22nd century: progress has triumphed, mankind inhabits worlds beyond its own, a utopian future awaits. But the old problems linger, and new problems arise. Four people, made for a suicide squad to target the enigmatic Empress of Sin, are now caught in that darkness: Crystal, a woman crafted to become the 'new humanity'; Daniel Redfield, tortured veteran of the Mars War; Jirou Blanxart, an assassin known across all of mankind's new lands; and Aiden Jonas, notorious PMC soldier and mass murderer.

The four-strong squad, working for the Pro-Earth Committee as an unofficial task force, are trapped by their handlers and their own insecurities. Crystal struggles to break free of her creator's ideas, while Jirou, Jonas and Danny are all brought face-to-face with their dark pasts. As they are confronted by new threats that test the bonds they have, the Empress forges her own path through the shadows, drawing the four into her plan for revenge. But revenge against whom?

Combining Western science fiction and a futuristic vision of humanity with the high action of Japanese anime, the second volume of Crystal and Sin follows our heroes as they push further towards freedom, and are caught in a web so dark none of they may escape.
