Cupid's Song

His name is Cupid's Songdark grey, big, kind but stubborn. When he's delivered to Switchback Ranch, he brings with him a secret and a whole load of change. Not all of it is good.
Rancher Chad Emerson needs his newly opened boarding stables to pay for itself, and soon. The horses he's raised and trained have to fetch a decent price. And any woman who crosses into his world should have two traits: be respectful and be an accomplished rider. But at 45, after a string of doomed love affairs, he prefers to concentrate on ranch matters versus matters of the heart.
Country singer and Cupid Song's new owner, Jill Hearthstone, is more comfortable on a stage than in a saddle. After surviving two failed relationships with untrustworthy men, and recently selling her cleaning business, she turns to fulfilling her passionsfurthering her blossoming music career in the Dawn Rose Band, and learning to ride properly. Finding a man does not figure into her plans.
Jill's band falls apart just before her newly divorced sister, Jacqueline arrives for a visit. And handsome, rich Mattias brings his two beautiful Arabian horses to board at Chad's place. Matties and Jacqueline fall for each other, leaving Jill and Chad as reluctant observers battling their own feelings. Jill is reticent as he has never praised her music and isn't interested in becoming a roadie. Plus she is not a very proficient rider. Meanwhile, she sells one of her original songs, collects a few young temporary musicians to form a new group, and wows people at some small gigs, but she fears the arrangement won't last.
Chad hates the club scene and thinks she would never wish to tie herself down to a life of financial difficulty. Also she is not managing very well with her horse, Cupid's Song.
When it seems as though Jill and Chad are getting together, news filters down that expensive horses are going missing from farms in their area. Chad finds himself at the wrong end of a gun barrel when he confronts the thieves.
Everything is uncertain for Chad and Jill, including what comes next in their relationship.
Cupid's Song brings them together, tears them apart, and changes them forever.
