However, this is not always the case. Consider when speaking to a child and presenting him with the illusion of choice: He may be given the option to eat peas or carrots as his dinner vegetable. The child will likely be thrilled to have been given the option and happily eat whatever he has chosen while thinking it was of his own volition.
