Dead Man's Code is a murder mystery revolving around the discovery of a piece of paper in the murdered victim's hand. This forms part of a code that will have you guessing as to who pulled the trigger, and provided that you solve the code, you will establish the murderer but that will only be established in the twist at the end.
Professor Caliban, a professor of Shakespearean English is found murdered in his university office in the early hours of a morning with a single bullet hole in his forehead and clenched in his hand is a piece of paper on which is written a quote from a Shakespearean play.
The investigation is led by germ phobic Inspector Zadoc Priestley and the younger Detective Elgar Edwards. Initially their suspicions are drawn to the Professor's wife and son but it transpires that although both Mrs Caliban and her son might have legitimate motives to kill the professor, neither claims to have done it.
Throughout, the two detectives puzzle over the quote on the piece of paper in the dead man's clasped hand, until it is deciphered, but that doesn't lead directly to the murderer, instead it leads to more codes and clues. After much soul searching, and no clear resolution, a final twist suddenly emerges as to who pulled the trigger.
