A Book Review - A Memoir About Doody, The Dog
The Doody the Dog series is a fun reading for all ages. The first book in the series, "Dogwood", was originally published in 2020 and written by ROMIL MEHTA. ROMIL has a great writing style that allows him to let the author's voice and story come through. His first book created quite a stir in the kids book industry as he was able to capture the imagination of young readers while creating a level of originality that very few authors were able to accomplish.

In "Dodo the Dog: " by ROMIL MEHTA, we are introduced to a little DoDO. It was seen that his little teeth had disappeared and this lead to his strange behavior. The title is based on the fact that DoDO is one of those dogs who have their personalities like an invisible shadow, an impressionist artist whose work is lost or is just off on the edge.

You see, DoDO had been a dog who barked all the time, but he later became something totally different. He became less like a dog and more like a little kid. Because of his new attitude, he was constantly caught and abused by adults, especially his mother.

"Dodo the Dog: " is a story about how Doody learns about life, his family, and his friends. You see, Doody is not the only member of his family. The whole family has been separated by the evil Dr. Peroni, a man who has captured the DoDO's father and killed him because of an accident. Peroni wants to dissect the DoDO's brain so he can figure out what makes him tick.

ROMIL, being a writer with a lot of ideas himself, uses a lot of humor to get the point across to his readers. The humor in the book, however, doesn't cause him to overstep his boundaries or into abuse of his own rights. Instead, he manages to bring out the feelings of a person who has been wronged and why he feels that way.

A lot of the humor in the book is based on being dark and mature, not the type of humor usually associated with kids' books. DoDO's behavior is also based on his insecurities, so you can imagine that he wouldn't act the way he does without feeling some insecurity about it. One of the funniest moments in the book is when he's chasing after his mother's little brother, whom he thinks stole his dog bag. DoDO tries to run away from his mother so he can keep running, but her little brother catches up with him and he realizes that he is in over his head.

When ROMIL wrote "Dodo the Dog", he never expected it to become an international bestseller. He only wanted to write a fun, funny book that was full of love and sincerity. So far, DoDO's appearance on reality TV shows such as "Dog Whisperer"Dodos of the World" have been quite successful, making DoDO a phenomenon.

The book has four sequels written by ROMIL MEHTA. "Dodo the Littlest Dinosaur" tells the story of how DoDO has grown up and is now a lovable small dinosaur. "Dogwood" tells of DoDO's search for his missing tooth. "Goldenrod" details the love story between DoDO and his friend, Prince Cobb.

ROMIL does not shy away from any subject matter and doesn't go overboard with the language used. The book is very readable and I think he has really captured the essence of what DoDO's family and friends would feel like to be in his position.

There are also many books about DoDO out there and "Dodo the Dog: In Search of Our Family Dog" is not included. I have searched for several of the books and they aren't available at local bookstores. I think it may be because this book was released to a worldwide audience.
