Delilah Eliot was a married twenty-four year old woman with a remarkable tendency to bounce back from the many downfalls life has thrown her way. The woman tells her story in desperate attempt to understand life and everything that comes along with it. The twists and turns she has always come back from take a turn for the worst when she feels as if she must look after other people's needs before her own, and tragedy after tragedy seems to leave her at a loss not knowing how to deal with the crippling stress of feeling as if she had the world on top of her shoulders. The stories her mother, Anne tell of her daughters childhood include dancing along with shadows, and imagining herself as a ballarina happily. These shadows seem more real than ever when the shadows seem to show up in her life once again, this time she is fully grown and the shadows weren't welcomed. She was once young and innocent, unaware of all the harsh realities in the world, now everything has changed. The topics of loss, tragety, anxiety, illness, and addiction leave her desperate to hold on to any sanity she has left.
