Realising it was exactly 100 years since my grandfather Daniel courageously escaped the horrendous conditions that existed in the coal mine by setting up his own farm, I decided to write his story.
With no livelihood, he couldn't afford to rent a home for his wife and young family. On an impulse he bought a railway carriage to live in and began a new life, raising ten children on a small 7.5 acre wood in West Yorkshire.
This is a touching story of Daniel's rural life, his family and the influence that an unwavering faith in God can have on lives.
