Jen MacLellan's job as a reaper has gone from bad to weird. When her new partner is possessed by a creature that just slithered out of an exploded corpse and a sinister portal unleashes more of them on earth, Jen knows something needs to be done and fast. The only problem? Convincing her boss to take her seriously. An impromptu visit from Sam, her former lover and the current king of Hell, sets a plan to save earth in motion. It also brings Jen far more than she bargained for in her love life: two men vying for her attention. 

Jack Norris has developed some unusual abilities since returning from Hell, but it hasn't made running the pub any easier. Those newly enhanced senses and super strength are no match for his disgruntled employees. Or are they? During a routine supply run on Earth, Jack goes into a trance and accidentally opens a portal to Hell. Once the stories about him begin to circulate, running the pub becomes a cakewalk, but Jack can't help but feel his life is spiraling out of control. Things take an unexpected turn when he's summoned by an old Norse god cashing in on a promise from a past life. His first task? To help Jen learn about her origins.

Together, Jen and Jack discover everything is connectedthe blackouts, the portals, and lifetimes of secrecy. There's an ancient evil who's threatening to break out of her prison in hell and a whole network of gods who think Jen is the key to stopping it. But first Jen and Jack need to uncover the secrets of their past, and what they find is something neither of them expected
