Daughter of Jotunheim

In her dreams, Izel trudges through fields of snow and ice, searching for someone whose voice she's only heard in her head. When she's awake, however, she's much more concerned with making sure her school's volleyball team goes to State and wondering who might have a crush on her. Until she spikes a fever on her fifteenth birthday, everything about her life is just the way she likes it: ordinary.

Then images half-glimpsed in mirrors lead Izel to a whispering box in the university storage room that no one can open. What she finds inside draws mana-like monsters toward her mother and grandmother, tearing her world apart and bringing secrets from the past to light. Izel learns that the father she never knew is in danger, and unless she is able to master her emerging powers he could be the key to allowing more creatures from the void between realms to pour into her world.

She'll have to summon every ounce of her courage and unleash her elemental powers to rescue her father before it's too late, and call upon the power of the nine realms to protect her family and her future.
