David Trinidad's poetry has a wide following. He is such a loved figure in the poetry world that his works tend to outsell those of other poets. In the past his books have gotten well reviewed and are often later course adopted. The work is deeply personal, brilliantly crafted, postmodern, moving and unrelenting in a witty and soulful way.

Despite the fact that Trinidad is a modest and understated reader of his own work his readings are always sold out. The crowds are diverse --- in addition to Trinidad groupies there are always young poets and students of poetry and students in areas such as film, gay studies, semiotics and cultural studies.

Trinidad's fans includes scholars of poetry. He has written movingly about Sylvia Plath, Ann Sexton and Tim Dlugos. Even some of today's most established poets such as John Koethe and Mark Strand are keen followers of his work.

Trinidad's work has even been reviewed outside the USA. The review of Phoebe 2002 in the Toronto Globe and Mail began, "I want to say right off that I think Phoebe 2002 is a brilliant book."

"Utterly deadpan and astonishingly fine" is how PW once described David Trinidad's work.
