In doing so he will overcome the emotionally depressive aspect of nature and the emotional shadow. The problem is Pelops cannot begin his maturational transformation until Bellerophon completely cedes the maturational initiative to him.
Love is a transformative and civilizing force. A game changer. In the individuated developmental context it enables man to spiritualize his relationship to matter itself. It then inspires man to impose a spiritual dominion upon his own material nature and within the phenomenal world itself. Vitginally platonic love that is. The Greeks also referred to it as agape.
