Dog Friendly Bakewell

This e book has been written for dog owners, who either live in or around Bakewell in the Peak District or for those who visit Bakewell, whether it be for a day, a week or a month. When we first got Tilly, our slightly mad black Labrador, we began that steep learning curve experienced by all owners of new puppies/dogs. We have thoroughly enjoyed discovering new places and meeting new people in areas around our home in the Peak District National Park. Knowing far more about where we could take Tilly has certainly made our time in the Peaks more enjoyable for us and our four legged companion!

Reading this e book will help you to discover coffee shops, pubs and attractions in and around the Bakewell area, where you and your dog will be welcomed. We've also included information about where you can stay in this part of the Peak District. For example, hotels, campsites, B&B's and holiday cottages who are all dog friendly. We have provided a list of differing accommodation types to suit all tastes and budgets.

We thought you might like to know about some walks, which include lots of the local beauty spots and features around Bakewell and its surrounding villages. Wherever possible, we suggest dog friendly pubs and refreshment stops en route. You don't have to follow any of the walks, but it does give you a good indication of places to go that are fun and interesting for your dog.

We have also tried to offer alternative routes on most walks, where we feel that stiles may be particularly awkward perhaps for the older, less mobile dog. In some cases, where there is not an alternative, we have provided a picture of the stile, so that you can see for yourself whether your dog is likely to be able to use it or not. Toilets are indicated, as well as potential refreshment stops and poop bins!

The remaining chapters feature other villages close to Bakewell, as well as highlighting some of the popular areas such as the Monsal Trail and Lathkill Dale.
