In this second book of the Dottie Flowers series, Dottie and her friend, Mabel Scattergood, fly to Europe for a month's vacation, courtesy of Tom Snead. Because of Tom's dubious reputation, Dottie has misgivings about the trip. At Tom's house in St. Siffret, her doubts seem well-founded when Mabel opens what she believes is her suitcase and finds bags of white powder inside. By the time the police arrive, the bags have disappeared, Mabel's suitcase has reappeared, and a man's bloodied body is discovered a few yards from the house.

In St. Siffret, they are befriended by a French couple, Yvette and Pierre. Dottie's instincts tell her not to trust them. After the two women travel to Tuscany, trouble follows them. Dottie finds drugs hidden inside her wine jug. She is convinced they were planted by Yvette and Pierre. Dottie meets the attractive film director, Hans Van Gogh, and they go out on several dates. In spite of his attentiveness, Dottie senses something isn't right. Her uneasiness seems to be confirmed when an ex policeman is found murdered in Hans's house and Hans is arrested. But is he really guilty of murder?

Gripping and fast-paced, Dottie Flowers and the European Caper is a page turner that will entertain you right to the last page.
