In the early 1700s, an Alle generation ship crashed in the woods of Lower Canada. Survivors stumbled out of the wreckage to find French settlers working the land. While many of the colonists sheltered the injured Alle, some reacted with fear and loathing. Two centuries later, nothing much has changed.
Two months after the events in Backlis Ford, Constance Alle, first Alle investigator for Lower Canada, and Chief Investigator Desautel still havent identified the cabal responsible for the kidnapping and murder of so many Alle.
While they pursue their investigation in Montreal, Constance is sidetracked by her sister Gemmas arrival in town. The investigation is further hindered by rumours of an epidemican epidemic for which the Alle might be responsible. As the citizens of Montreal deal with their dead and dying, anger grows against the immune Alle.
When Gemma experiences first hand the simmering resentment against the Alle, Constance finds herself fighting to keep her sister safe while dealing with attacks intended to kill her.
With Alle hostility against the humans growing, its only a question of time before the two clash and the fragile relationship between humans and Alle shatters.

REVIEWS FOR BACKLIS FORD:
I read this wonderfully written tale and thoroughly enjoyed it. The story is a good murder mystery, tinged with aliens who crashed on Earth a couple hundred years before and have integrated about as well as any sort of alien will.
