This publication shares the findings of a study to identify better ways of estimating the impact of development assistance on job creation. The study used inputoutput and computable general equilibrium models to develop a customized approach to improve the fit and predictiveness of jobs impact assessments. It used 20102019 data on Asian Development Bank operations in Fiji, Indonesia, and Thailand. The findings suggest that simpler inputoutput models may best suit projects that support substantial local purchases of non-construction capital goods and services. More comprehensive and data-intensive computable general equilibrium models can help capture the broad impact of programmatic policy support and large-scale projects.
