Honoré de Balzac (1799-1850) is a French writer, a founder of realism genre in European literature. He is famous for his collection of novels "The human comedy". During his life Balzac was very popular in Europe and considered to be one of the best writers of the 19th century. "Eugenie Grandet" came out in 1833. It is included in "The human comedy" collection. This is a novel about miserliness. The rich Grandet family lives in an old house, which they do not repair because of the father's stinginess.
