Synopsis of 'Everything Money Can Buy'

The story follows the rise and fall of corporate raiders and high-level crime hiding in plain sight and protected by people in power. In the Crime Thriller Genre with a twist of Bukowski.

Gerry Finney is an investigative journalist living and working in Sydney Australia. With assistance from some friends, other journalists and an old jailed secret service agent named Bill Honeychurch, they uncover a major story of Ponzi schemes and money laundering by the financial leviathan, Helleron Corporation. All this while dealing with his own addictions of gambling and drinking which have torn his and his family's life apart. Yet the deeper he digs the darker things get, the more obsessed he becomes at exposing the corporate frauds who look so legitimate while all the time crouched in the shadows of board rooms, mansions, and luxury hotels.

Helleron's Australian CEO, Jon Mountbanke and his affluent directors are living the dream of wealth, power, and privilege. Somewhere after the currency recall of India in late 2016, they find themselves becoming the focus of Financial Regulators from several jurisdictions. They are also pursued by Finney and colleagues, as they try to stay one step ahead of an imploding empire and monumental debt. All this while attempting to secure the takeover of a giant cashed up American company that will put paid to their creditors once and for all. From Sydney to Washington, Mumbai to Macau and Bern to Canberra, the white-collar criminals run from prosecution and public disclosure as time runs out. As Gerry Finney's quest nears the end, and the executives fall one by one, Finney receives critical help from unexpected quarters.
