A year has passed since Lily Markart's traumatic introduction to the Dreambetween. Despite having come to grips with her formidable dreaming power, she finds herself isolated and emotionally fragile, both in the Dreambetween and in the waking world. Her one chance at friendship, and perhaps something more, is Simon, a daring dreamer who fascinates and frightens her in equal measure. But Lily is not the only one with her eye on Simon. Other dreamers, both young and ancient, have plans for him, and those plans will force Lily to walk a path rife with vengeance, isolation, and betrayal, a path with the potential to tear the Dreambetween apart.

Exile Ballad is the second part of The Dreambetween Symphony, a historical fantasy that ranges across three thousand years, following the lives, loves, fears, and fates of those who share the blessing, and the curse, that is the Dreambetween.
