FARLEY MALONE & THE FUDGED UP FABLES

Aesop, Mother Goose and Lewis Carroll are up in arms. Their stories are being sabotaged by a sinister fabulist bent on getting revenge on the Brothers Grimm. But can a little girl from the projects save them with just a deck of cards and a press-on nail?

Farley and her rival cousin Ebony are whisked away from the projects, to the land of the Brothers Grimm. Farley is contacted by the brothers after her grandmother retires and takes a long trip abroad. MeeMaw is very fond of the old stories and used to read them with Farley after school. So before her trip, MeeMaw gives Farley a strange gift: A lime green teddy bear with a box inside. That box contains a press on nail with magical powers but she has to keep it a secret; MeeMaw says someone is seeking that box and tells Farley to hide it.

When the Brothers Grimm come to Farley in the night, they tell her of a plan by an evil enemy who wants to destroy the old fables. And the trouble has already begun: all the characters are confused and starring in the wrong stories! They want Farley to use the contents of the magic box to unfudge the characters, get them back to their rightful places and destroy the sinister enemy at the center of the confusion.

Farley is fearful at first but wants to go since MeeMaw loves the fables, but there's a problem: her rival cousin is spending the weekend so Farley is forced to take her along. Farley thinks Ebony's new life in a well-to-do neighborhood has gone to her head so she and Farley have little in common. What's worse, Ebony questions Farley's decisions at every turn, making it nearly impossible for Farley to put everything back together before the tales are permanently rewritten. She can't let MeeMaw down, so Farley will have to rely on her inner strength and gain the confidence she needs to get the fables unfudged.
