John Maguire grew up in Fleetwood and studied chemistry in Manchester. He started writing after a career in the pharmaceutical industry and in business school teaching.
The poems in this book reflect a lifetime's passion for sport, for mountains and remote places, and the friendships that go with them. They take a wry look at an active life disrupted by serious illness.
John came to the North-east of England with his family in 1969. He was enchanted by Northumberland and never thought about leaving.
He now lives in the South Tyne Valley.
