If the ultimate measure of a mature indigenous church is its ability to self-theologise, then the formation of OCMS in 1983 was a crucial milestone in the growth of Christianity in the Majority World. It marked the ability of non-Western evangelical churches to confidently assert their own distinctive identities with intellectual rigour within global Christianity, formerly Western-dominated. That this initiative is happening in the midst of one of the leading academic centres of the world makes it doubly significant. This book tells this wonderful story, one for which we are deeply thankful to God for his leading and the pioneers for their boldness and imagination.
