Gitanjali - Song Offerings is Rabindranath's first anthology translated into English. Its poems are very popular in the West. But even though the names of the two books are identical, the Bengali Gitanjali does not have an absolute dominance over the English Gitanjali. Rabindranath has given only 53 places out of 158 songs / poems of Bangla Gitanjali in English Gitanjali (Song Offerings). The remaining 50 have been chosen from Gitimalya, Naibedya, Kheya, Shishu, Kalpana, Chaitali, Utsarga, Smarana and Achalayatan. He has arranged English Gitanjali with 16 poems / songs from Gitimalya, 15 from Naibedya, 11 from Kheya, 3 from Shishu, 1 from Kalpana, 1 from Chaitali, 1 from Utsarga, 1 from Smaran and 1 from Achalayatan. In other words, he has included poems or songs in a total of 9 books in the English Gitanjali.
