This edited book series titled 'Girl Education in India: Still Miles to Cover' is the collection of three volumes. Vol. I - Girl Education: Understanding the Status and Gender Issues presents the complete picture of girl education in country and helps the readers to understand the concept of girl education in traditional Indian society. It also focuses on gender issues linked with girl education. Vol. II - Girl Education: Challenges, Strategies and Initiatives details about the various schemes and initiatives implemented by central government and state governments in India to deal with the lacunas and loopholes existing in our education system acting as hindrance to girl education. Vol. Ill - Linking Girl Education with Women Empowerment and Development discusses the relationship between education and empowerment of girls. How education can lead to women empowerment and ultimately may contribute to country's development is the focus of this volume. This book series will reflect a detailed picture of girl education and enable stakeholders to seek positive measures to tackle issues in this regard.
