Goldy Gold

The work in the gold mine was harsh enough. Every miner practically put their lives on the line by deciding to toil in this hellhole. Young or old, every worker has their own life stories of misery. And they were only humans looking for a big stroke of luck. In front of the mine's entrance, every miner had to get stripped off their clothes for inspection of any stolen bits of gold when they finished the work for the day. Unless they used a particularly ingenious tactic, they all got caught. Some even tried eating bits of gold, but it's not so reliable a method because you don't know what the gut would treat them before they get out of your system. Then, there's a brilliant scheme to pull off the perfect crime. It would take two to succeed. But it would require an excruciatingly painful sacrifice on one of the pair. Could they do it? Its consequences are worth the effort?
