Grab Bag 19

Grab Bag 19 is the nineteenth edition of habu's eclectic collections of active gay male life and tribulations short stories.

This fifteen-story collection was written during the summer and winter of 2019, and the stories are presented in the order in which they were written. Most of these storiesten of themare "now" timeframe stories set in the United States. Seven stories are set on the East Coast, from New York City down to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; one ("Four-Hour Layover") is set in Detroit; and two are set further west, one in Colorado ("Summer of Twenty-Nine") and one in Hollywood ("Star Struck").

As is often the case with habu anthologies, a third of the stories are located outside of the States, four of them in countries rimming or in the Mediterranean, and one in Shanghai, China. Only two of the stories in the collection ("Sinking in Shanghai," set in China in the late 1920s through the 1930s, and "Tripoli Shore Leave," set in the pirate wars of early nineteenth-century north Africa) have historical settings.
