LESSONS IN TRUTH
Synopsis
"Lessons in Truth: A Course of Twelve Lessons in Practical Christianity" is the core text on Unity Church teachings and it is one of the best representatives of New Thought philosophy. The spiritual models presented in Dr. Cady's lessons show us how to enhance our confidence and inner power, and improve our spiritual development. In the beginning of 1892, a series of articles titled Lessons in Truth by Dr. Cady were published in Unity magazine. This material later was compiled into a book and it was the first book Unity published. It is now the most widely read book in that movement and it has been translated into eleven languages and braille.
Harriet Emilie Cady (1848-1941) was an American homeopathic physician and author of New Thought spiritual writings. She was inspired and influenced by Biblical teachings and the philosophy of Ralph Waldo Emerson. She was taught by Emma Curtis Hopkins, the New Thought "teacher of teachers" and a student of Christian Science. Cady associated with several prominent figures in the New Thought movement of the time and Charles and Myrtle Fillmore, co-founders of Unity Church.

GOD A PRESENT HELP
Synopsis
We've all heard the phrase God an ever-present help, but do you "really" believe it. A Source of Infinite wisdom, understanding, health, and abundance are always available to us if only we dare reach beyond the barriers of our limitations. But how do we do this? In December we begin a study of Emilie Cady's last series of lessons written for Charles Fillmore and the Unity Movement on how she reached beyond her own limitations to draw upon this Infinite resource and ever-present help. God is a Present Help in every situation if only you dare believe.

HOW I USE TRUTH
(MISCELLANEOUS WRITINGS)
Synopsis
Rarely does one find a volume whose contents have helped humanity as the various articles have that comprise the reading in this important book. Each chapter in it has passed the final test of merit, which is the test that proves to the reader the value of the book. When faithfully applied, Miss Cady's message results in health, harmony, prosperity and happiness." -Unity

HAS IT EVER occurred to you that you are almost daily taking God's name in vain? Unless you are very watchful, very careful, you are doing so. When God called Moses to lead the Children of Israel out of Egypt, "Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? "And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shall thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you. . . . "This is my name forever, and this is my memorial unto all generations." "I AM," then, is God's name. Every time you say, "I am sick," "I am weak," "I am discouraged," are you not speaking God's name in vain, falsely? I AM cannot be sick; I AM cannot be weary, or faint, or powerless; for I AM is all-life, all-power, All-Good. "I AM," spoken with a downward tendency, is always false, always "in vain." A commandment says, "Thou shalt not take the name of Jehovah thy God in vain; for Jehovah will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain." And Jesus said, "By thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned." If you speak the "I AM" falsely, you will get the result of false speaking. If you say, "I am sick," you will get sickness; if you say, "I am poor," you will get poverty; for the law is, "Whatsoever a man soweth, that
