If the deaths in horror movies terrify you, wait till you experience what real life has to offer.
I often stress that real life is scarier than fiction. According to a buddy, the reason why slasher films are so popular is because the killings are implausible to begin with. We have lumbering, excessively powerful psychopaths attacking helpless people while dressed in Halloween garb. And the victims, who are mostly female, pass away in a fairly graphic and erotic way. Jump scares heighten the suspense.
The majority of scary movie killings are intended to amuse rather than represent real-life crimes. One will get horrified by reading about actual killings. The act of murdering or being murdered is neither seductive nor lyrical.
However, there are instances of actual crimes that appear to leap out of a screenplay.
in this Volume of the True Crime mysteries you'll find the story of
Terrible Tommy O'Connor: Chicago Gangster.
The Crimes of Gangster James "Whitey" Bulger.
The Glasgow Taxi Gangster Wars.
Glasgow Gangster Arthur Thompson: The Godfather.
Joseph Veroni: Ontario Canada's First Godfather.
Roberto Calvi: Who Killed God's Banker?.
A Botched New York Bank Robbery.
Revisiting the Chilling Death of Elisa Lam.
The Controversial Death of Michelle Von Emster.
Death of the Beautiful Cigar Girl: Was Edgar Allan Poe the Murderer?.
The Death of Laci Peterson.
I exaggerated more on the case of Elisa Lam a college student who disappeared leaving no Trace, but a CCTV footage showed a disturbing footage of terrified Elisa talking to an unknown person in a elevator just before her disappearance.
Another fantastic addition to the reading list of any True Crime fan out there.
