Hanumajjayant is an important festival celebrated in the month of Caitra, after rRmanavami. The deity worshipped on that day is Hanumn. He is a mahtma, famously known by names such as ñjaneya, Mruti, Pradevaru, Tiruvadi, Mahvra etc, in the literature of jnnis and devotees. It is but natural that, after the worship of r Rma on Rmanavami and on a day very close to r Rmanavami, the custom of worshipping this God who is the greatest among the retinue of rRma, who is dear to devotees, dear to scholars and who is very popular, continues even to this day.
