Joseph Conrad was a Polish-born English author and master mariner, one of the greatest novelists in English literature.
The novella "Heart of Darkness' was written under the impression of Conrad's travel in Congo and it is one of the most famous writer's works. The action takes place in the heart of Africa and describes a British man's journey there. The central character is Kurtz, a European trader who has established himself as a ruler of the native people and keeps them in fear. The savagery of so-called civilized people is the main theme of novella.
Read the book, that has been translated into dozens of languages and became the base point of the Academy Award-winning film "Apocalypse now" by F.F. Coppola. Enjoy the reading!
