No one goes to Uptown. There are 512 Pylons that go from the street to Uptown, but no one uses them. Most people don't even know they have doors in them. The screens don't say anything about Pylons, not even a warning to stay away. Most people don't like to think about them.
Jim thinks about Pylons a lot. And Uptown. Apples come from Uptown. Everyone needs apples to be alive, but lately apples don't fall so much. Jim thinks something is happening in Uptown.
