Welcome to my book about how to pursue the superpower of happiness throughout the chapters of your WorkLife Story. Here is a preview of what's inside, along with the main ideas and the meaning behind these.

WorkLife is our life at work, where we spend one third of our lives. It is also the impact our work has on our life outside of work, and the impact our life outside of work has on our work. All areas of our life in and out of work are so intrinsically linked, they cannot be separated, nor do I believe should they. I believe WorkLife needs to be considered holistically.

What does happiness mean in the world of WorkLives? Of course, there is not one definition, but rather a general consensus that little things count and can make a difference. Happiness is linked to motivation, and in WorkLife people are often happy when they are trying to achieve goals that are difficult but not out of reach, and are taking steps to fulfil their aspirations and dreams.

In this book I tell four stories:

  1. The Beauty of the Little Things in Life: Patricia's story of how small changes in her day-to-day WorkLife had a big impact on her happiness.

  2. A Life Lived with "What If": Wayne's story of how a threat to his WorkLife happiness gave him the impetus to explore his "What If" when considering his options in knowing what to pursue next.

  3. Creating a WorkLife you Love that Fulfils your Wants and Needs: Terry and Anne's stories of how they got creative and inventive in doing what they could with what they had, in creating opportunities for themselves, in carving out a WorkLife that fulfilled their happiness.

  4. What's Standing in the Way of My Happy Ever After?: Sam's story of how she faced this question at different stages of her WorkLife, and where it led her.

I share the exercises that helped to work through these challenging situations to resolve the dilemmas. I present these exercises as the following assignments for you to work through:
