This book titled How to Turn from a Novice to a Frontline Leader is one of the most powerful and inspiring literary assemblage of tested and trusted "principles, character and attitude that can make a great leader" out of any individual desirous of attaining his or her full potentials. Coming from the powerful pens of a committed leader and a successful motivator who has a wealth of experience to tap into, the book presents critical analogies of variegated life expectations anchored on real life experiences. The work is more significant because it is coming at a critical point in the world's socio-political history, when it has become glaring that the world is plagued by numerous challenges bothering on incompetent leadership and the associated crisis of unemployment, insecurity, corruption, nepotism, and a host of others. As the author declared, "We need leaders, everywhere! In politics, family, career, workplace, religion, society, community and indeed all sectors of life; we need people that will hold the torch that shows the light. We need people who will stand as beacons on the true path and show the way for others to follow".
The book is divided into six sections made up of 15 chapters. Section one titled The Mission discusses human predicaments and the strive for survival in the light of life's purposes. Section two titled Once a Novice interrogates the meeting point between passion, reality and ability and highlights abounding human potentials capable of igniting the need for change, consolidation and development from all angles and at all levels. Section three titled The Attitude presents the need for a set agenda as well as the question of capable and dynamic leadership. Section Four titled The Strength to go on delves into the different levels of strengths which a person can pull from or harness, especially in terms of doggedness, determination and commitment towards set goals. Section Five titled Living a Legacy exposes the centrality of mentoring to human development and the benefit of utilizing acquired knowledge and experience towards individual and group empowerment accompanied with the ability to surmount challenges. Section six titled The Closing ends on an optimistic note. Given the depth of the subject matter and the writers ability to effectively demonstrate his versatility in presenting this highly engaging and enriching book, I find the work very topical and resourceful. This book is an indispensable compendium and an instrument of empowerment. A lot of intellectual labour and skills have gone into its production. The different chapters adequately provide the socio-political platform for the interrogation of thorny issues in our societies. It is a pleasure to present this publication to the general public. It is expected that the book will become an indispensable reference material for the youth, researchers, students and the general public.
