Originally published in 1848, 'Hudson Bay' was author R.M. Ballantyne's first published book. Rather than a story for children, for which he was later best-known, this is his account of his time working and adventuring in Canada during his youth. R.M. Ballantyne worked for the Hudson's Bay Company in Canada from the age of 16 travelling around remote parts of the country to trade furs. This book describes his experiences and is a fascinating first-hand glimpse of the wilds of Canada during the mid-19th century.-
