Sent on a trans European quest by his girlfriend Siobhan, to locate her vanished brother, James Caldwell sets off on an apparently aimless road trip. Along the way he starts-up a friendship with Russell Dowdican, a truck driver with a similar background and under similar circumstance. James also finds a bit of romance with Angela, whom he meets along the way, and then later with Ciara as well. And then there is the Mysterious Thomas, is he really the demigod that he claims to be?
