Santa Carla, California - Autumn, 1982,

18-year old Sam Freman fears everything; heights, bullies, girls - you name it. Afraid to stand up to his best friend when she asks if they can take a ride in his boat, he agrees. They head out on the bay in his tiny craft, ignoring telltale signs warning of rough weather. Foolish mistake.

What starts out as a light drizzle explodes into a deadly squall. It¿s times like these that it¿s good to have a sturdy craft you can count on. Too bad he doesn¿t. The motor picks this moment to give up. With the storm sweeping his tiny boat out to sea, Sam must figure out how to attempt a treacherous landing on the isolated Lighthouse Rock, or be swept out to sea.
